The Book of Leviticus, Chapter 20

This chapter is about the ancient Israelite communities punishments for sin. Yes, there are different punishments for different sins. I know some of you out there are going to say: “But sin is sin. And the price for sin is death!” Yes, this is true. However, this was in the New Testament. We are currently in the Old Testament (3rd book of the Christian & Judaic ‘bibles’.). This was also before Jesus was even thought of. Even before there’s even a prophesy about a messiah. So this chapter is kinda short. I apologize in advance, friends. Enjoy the read!!!

God lets Moses have the skinny about the punishments for sin:

Any Israelite or foreigner/alien, living in Israel, who sacrifices their kids to Molech (Ok. Molech is the god of the Ammonites, that are mentioned all throughout Genesis & parts of Exodus. Molech is always depicted as a cow, calf, bull, bovine of some kind. So think Aaron & the golden calf in Exodus 32 & 33.) automatically got the death penalty! No questions, no trial, no jury, automatic death sentence. And the means of execution: stoning. That’s right, you got stoned to death. (It’s not what it sounds like.) People, EVERYONE, picked rocks & threw them at you until you were dead. This person would have God’s face set against them & God would excommunicate them.

If anybody decided that they were gonna be the pacifist, the non-violent one, then guess what? There’s a punishment for you too! If the people of the community close their eyes to what this person, who gave their child(ren) to Molech & failed to enact the death penalty, God will set His face against that person, their family, & they’ll be excommunicated!

God will set His face against the person who turns to mediums & “spiritists” to prostitute themselves by following them.

If anyone curses their father or mother, they must be put to death. They’ve cursed their parents & their blood is on their own head.

If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer & the adulteress get a death sentence.

If a man sleeps with his father’s wife, he’s dishonored his father. Both the man & the woman get a death sentence. Their blood is on their own hands.

If a man has sex with another man like he would with a woman, both of them have done what’s detestable. They get a death sentence. (Sorry y’all.)

If a man marries both a woman & her mother, it’s wicked. (And not like if you’re from New England.) All of them get burned in the fire, so that there’s no wickedness among you.

If a man has sexual relations with an animal, he & the animal gets a death sentence.

If a woman approaches an animal to have sex with it, the woman & animal gets killed.

If a man marries his sister, the daughter of either his mom or dad, & has sex with her, it’s a disgrace. They must be cut off before the eyes of their people. (I’m not sure what this means.) He has dishonored his sister & will be held responsible. (So having a marriage & sexual relationship with your full-blooded or half-sister it’s just dishonorable. No death sentence. Really?!)

If a man has sex with a woman who is having her period, he has exposed the source of her flow & she’s also uncovered it. Both are to be excommunicated.

Don’t have sex with your aunt, on either side (mom or dad), that would dishonor a close relative. Both will be held responsible.

If a man sleeps with his aunt, he has dishonored his uncle. They’ll be held responsible. They’ll both die childless. (Back then, dying childless was like a death sentence.)

A man or woman who’s a medium or “spiritist” among the Israelites had to be put to death. Stoning is the method of death. Their blood will be on their own heads.
