This chapter is about the actual setting up of the tabernacle & the glory of God. This is also the last chapter of Exodus. Then we’ll be getting into Leviticus. But this last chapter of Exodus, we finally see the tabernacle actually built! Like completely set up & everything. We also see the glory of God continuing its travels with the Israelites. The glory of God is also referred to as the cloud. This is the same cloud that led the Israelites. Enjoy!
Then God told Moses to set up the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting. This was done on the 1st day of the 1st month. Here is more instructions from God about everything: Putting the Ark in there & shielding the Ark with a curtain, essentially making the Holy of Holies. Setting up everything dealing with the tabernacle, lamps, stands, altars, EVERYTHING! Aaron & his sons were dressed in their priest clothes & were consecrated into the priesthood. So the tabernacle, & everything dealing with it, was set up on the 1st day of the 1st month in the 2nd year. The text says makes it sound like Moses put together the tabernacle all by himself, like a giant Erector set! The text goes on to say that Moses finished the work.
The cloud covered the Tent of Meeting. The glory of God filled the tabernacle. Even Moses couldn’t enter the Tent because the cloud settled there & the glory-ness of God. In all the wanderings of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would roll out. But if the cloud didn’t lift up, they didn’t go anywhere! So the cloud of God was over the tabernacle by day, & was fire by night in the cloud so that all the Israelites could see it from their houses, during their travels.
Now we’ll be getting into Leviticus. Leviticus is a rule/law book. Take that how you will. We’ll see you then.
