(20)The disciples say to Jesus, “Tell us what heaven’s kingdom is like.” He said to them, “It’s like a mustard seed. It’s the smallest of all seeds, but when it falls on prepared soil, it produces a large plant & becomes a shelter for the birds of heaven.” (21) Mary (It doesn’t say which Mary.) said to Jesus, “What are your disciples like?” He said, “They are like children living in a field that’s not theirs. When the owners of the field come, they say, ‘Give our field back to us.’ They take off their clothes in front of them, & they return their field to them. For this reason I say, if the owner of a house knows that a thief is coming, he’ll be on guard before the thief arrives & will not let the thief break into the house of his estate & steal his possessions. As for you, then, be on guard against the world. Arm yourselves with great strength, or the robbers might find a way to get to you, for the trouble you expect will come. Let there be among you a person who understands. When the crop ripened, the person came quickly with a sickle in hand & harvested it. Whoever has ears to hear should hear. (I’ve always wondered if it means to be physically able to hear or hearing with your soul/spirit.)
(22) Jesus saw some babies nursing. He said to his disciples, “These nursing babies are like those who enter the kingdom.” They say to him, “Then shall we enter the kingdom as babies?” Jesus said to them, “When you make the 2 into 1, & when you make the inner like the outer & the outer like the inner, & the upper like the lower, & when you make male & female into a single one (no, this isn’t some LBGTQ thing! I’ll be getting into this later in the Gospel of Mary Magdalene!), so that the male will not be male, not the female be female. When you make eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then you will enter the kingdom.” (23) Jesus said, I shall choose you, one from a thousand & 2 from 10,000, & they will stand as one.
