The Gospel of Judas, Part 4

Part 4 is about Judas asking Jesus about “that generation,” which I’ve discussed in previous posts. I’ll also be discussing Judas asking about the human generations. This section will be shorter than the last one. Maybe.

Judas says to Jesus, “Rabbi, what kind of fruit does this generation produce?” Jesus answers saying, “The souls of every human generation will die. When these people, however, have completed the time of the kingdom & the spirit leaves them. Their bodies will die but their souls will be alive. They will not be taken up.” Judas says, “And what will the rest of the human generation do?” Jesus replied, “It’s impossible, to sow seeds on rock & harvest its fruit. This is also the way, the defiled generation & the corruptible Sophia (I promise after the Gospel of Judas series I will get major in depth with Sophia & why she’s corruptible!). The hand that has created mortals, so that their souls go up to the eternal realms above. I say to you, the angel of power will be able to see that these to whom the holy generations…” After he said this, Jesus left. There are plenty of verses in the Christian bible, in the New Testament, that talk about sowing in the rocks. For example, Matthew 13:1-23; Mark 4:1-20; & Luke 8:4-15. Also in the Gospel of Thomas 9. According to this particular parable, told by Jesus, seed that’s sown & lands on rock cannot take root. Thus cannot produce heads of grain. Here’s a tidbit, a morsel, a taste of the corruptible Sophia. Sophia is also another name for wisdom. That part of the divine, in gnostic traditions, that falls through a lapse of wisdom. And is eventually restored to the fullness of the divine once again, Sophia is often personified as a female figure in Christian & Jewish literature. She plays a central role in many gnostic texts, including Sethian texts. For example, the account of the fall of Sophia in Secret Book of John II:9-10. The child of Sophia, according to gnostic accounts, is the demiurge Saklas or Yaldabaoth.

Judas then said, “Master, as you’ve listened to the rest of them, now listen to me. I’ve seen a great vision.” Jesus heard this, he laughed. Jesus proceeded to say to Judas, “You 13th spirit, why do you try so hard? But speak up. I’ll bear with you.” Judas says, “In this vision I saw myself as the 12 disciples were stoning me & persecuting me severely. I also came to the place after you. I saw a house, & my eyes couldn’t comprehend its size. Great people were surrounding it, & that house had a roof of greenery.” The 13th spirit, or 13th demon, which is from Coptic & Greek daimon. Judas is the 13th because he’s separated away from the others. He’s a ‘demon’ (or daemon) due to his true identity is of a spiritual nature. There are tales of Socrates & his daimon or daimonion, in Plato’s Symposium 202a-203a.

Jesus answers Judas. Jesus states, “Judas, your star has led you astray. No person of mortal birth is worthy to enter the house you’ve seen. That place is reserved for holy (or some say the saints). Neither the sun or moon will rule there. Nor the day, but the holy will always abide there. In this eternal realm with the holy angels. Look, I’ve explained the mysteries of the kingdom to you. I’ve taught you about the error of the stars; and sent it to the 12 aeons.” According to he Secret Book of John II:9, the souls of the holy, or saints, dwell in the 3rd eternal realm. With the luminary Daveithai, the home of the offspring of Seth (son of Adam & Eva).
